Day 6 (November 11, 2025): A Last Look Around the Resort + The Journey Home

With a 11:30AM flight to Barbados, we decided to get up at 6:30AM again this morning, so that we could do one last beach walk and swim, before breakfast and heading over to the airport. It was a wonderful 2KM walk, as the resort and beach were incredibly quiet at that time. Just towards the end of our swim, the skies opened up in a mighty way. We didn’t mind, however, as we were wet anyway. The upside of the rain was a rainbow - a perfect way to conclude our vacation. Arriving back in our room, there was an email from Caribbean Airlines, saying that our flight to Barbados was three hours late. That would mean missing our Air Canada connection from Barbados to Toronto.  I spent the next hour communicating with Caribbean Airlines and Air Canada, with no success.  There aren’t many flights each week between Grenada and Barbados but, as if by a miracle, Inter-Caribbean Airways (Caribbean Airlines’ competition) had a flight that was to depart an hour after our now-delayed flight. Day 5 (November 10, 2025): Grand Anse Beach

Since we had to return the rental car at 9 AM, and because we were too exhausted yesterday to have done these last couple of things at the end of our trip around the island, we decided to get up this morning at 6:30 AM and to drive to the island’s most celebrated and beautiful beach: Grande Anse, located just 10 minutes from the hotel. It is normally a pretty busy place, from what we have heard, but we had most of the beach to ourselves so early on a Monday. We did a 2.25 km walk, followed by a swim in the crystal clear water. St. George's, the capital, could easily be seen in the distance, and a cruise ship was just coming into port during our walk. From there we drove to Morne Rouge, which is a beautiful beach in a secluded bay just south of Grand Anse. The hillside around the cove is filled with millionaire homes, so we weren’t actually able to get down to the beach, as every narrow street down to beach level was marked 'private'. Day 4 (November 9, 2025): A Drive Around Grenada

This was the day we had planned to tour the island via rental car. We walked over to the airport at 9AM (it’s just a 10 minute walk). Two very friendly agents at Ace Rent-A-Car gave us lots of good tips about seeing the island and arranged our Grenada drivers license very quickly ($25 USD).  At 9:30 AM, we pulled out from the airport and started what would prove to be an interesting but really difficult day of driving.  We have driven in some pretty risky and crazy places around the world, and we often talk about some of those drives. But we both agreed that Grenada has the most challenging driving we have ever faced.  Why so? Because:  (a) all roads are narrow; (b) drivers are incredibly fast and reckless, especially mini bus drivers;  (c) there are no shoulders and there are sharp concrete ditches on the very edge of every road, so if you go off the track, you will destroy your vehicle; (d) there are potholes and broken pavement everywhere; and, (e) twisty, tu...
